Sustainable agriculture

It's been a decade since we started work in this interesting area, which is why our own production of animal feed through local farmers now accounts for almost 60% of the total. Continuous work in the researching of the most efficient varieties for farmers and stockbreeders, our crops, and their sustainable fertilization takes place thanks to collaborations with industry companies like Timac Agro, Fertinagro, Biorizon, Agrovegetal, Herogra, Kimitec, and Remedios-Picasat.

This project guarantees the supply of raw materials for animal feed from the nearby land, reducing the dependence on production areas located further away, through the incentivizing of crops and agricultural practices in COVAP's area of influence in an efficient, environmentally-sustainable manner, making the most of byproducts like tankage from dairy cow operations as fertilizer. This work will soon be complimented by the construction and commissioning of a biogas plant during 2024.

This project is studying new cereal and legume varieties developed by the company Agrovegetal with high nutritional value and adapted to the area's climatic conditions. Thanks to this project, a triticale variety and a pea variety were selected which adapted successfully and are developing fast, at the same time generating a considerable amount of fodder.
