COVAP receives the Junta de Andalucía Sustainability Award
On 1 December, the Andalusian Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development presided over the 17th Andalusian Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development Awards Ceremony.
At this gala, the awards were presented to companies and individuals from the world of agriculture and fisheries who have stood out for the work they carry out, putting the autonomous community at the forefront and taking the Andalusian brand all over the world. In this respect, Carmen Crespo said that they all contribute ‘to giving Andalusia a better future’
COVAP has been recognised with one of its ‘Andalusia for Agriculture, Fisheries and Water 2023’ awards, receiving the prize for Sustainability. The Andalusian Regional Government has highlighted with this award the link between the cooperative group and its territory, the Los Pedroches Valley, and its role in promoting ‘a new agri-food concept that goes beyond traditional agriculture and livestock farming’. Different efficiency projects in agriculture; obtaining the SAICA Natur Zero Waste seal in industrial plants; measuring and reducing the carbon footprint through the Planet of Plenty project together with Alltech; the use of Bovaer in dairy cattle feed to reduce emissions, or the implementation of a circular energy model to obtain more than 80% of the energy needed from renewables through a photovoltaic plant, a biogas plant and a biomass plant, are some of the projects that have been taken into account for the awarding of this important distinction.
The awards ceremony, which was held in Granada, was attended by Vidal Madrid, Director of Operations and Sustainable and Digital Development on behalf of the Co-operative, a person who, together with his team, has a great knowledge of and commitment to the development of sustainability at the Co-operative.
